Վեռնատուն
/ver-na-doon/

Upper room, or attic, in Armenian.
Also an Armenian colloquial expression for the brain.

From վեռ (ver) meaning "upper" + տուն (doon) meaning "house".

The Story of Vernadoon

In the heart of Tbilisi, in the year 1899, a remarkable gathering was born.

The great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan opened the upper room of his apartment to fellow artists, writers, and intellectuals. This modest attic became Vernadoon, a sanctuary for creative minds.

The Vernadoon gatherings became legendary, a crucible where ideas were forged, where poetry was born, and where the Armenian literary renaissance found its voice.
